DRIVERS AND MECHANICS TRAINING CENTER
Ethiopia spends a lot of foreign
currency for the purchase of vehicle, fuel, lubricants and
spare parts. In order for the vehicles to operate efficiently,
economically, and safety and render maximum services, it is
necessary to deploy qualified drivers and mechanics. A serious
shortage of qualified mechanics, drivers of vehicles,
specially of trucks and busses, has existed in Ethiopia until
recent years. Due to this shortage, government organizations
and private operators have been forced to hire drivers with
less than desirable qualifications. The result was damaging to
both property and life. The center started its operation in
1981 with the objective of producing qualified drivers and
mechanics whose performances would contribute to the safe and
proper utilization of vehicles, reliable road transport
