The Planning, Research and Information department has the responsibility of preparing strategic plans for the organization that comply with the development policies and strategies  of the government in promoting the road transport sub-sector. Among the major functions of the department are:-    Undertake transport studies, prepare and coordinate short, medium and long term plans and programs of the authority. It also manage and promote the newly installed computer network based communication system with regional transport bureaus and zones to collect and compile reliable and up-to dated national transport data's and disseminate information through website.
